The privacy of our community of writers and readers is not overlooked. Dear Activist is accountable for each article published on dearactivist.com and will take the necessary steps to continue to remain aware of the information on our website. The following document consists of our privacy policy that every user must adhere to at all times.
Registration to the Journalist Team
All registration forms are attached on our website to ensure efficiency when adding to our journalist team. Writers affiliated with Dear Activist must be 14 years of age or older to be considered as a member of this platform. Dear Activist’s journalist team accepts applications from high-schoolers, strictly, who must have the support and approval of a parent or legal guardian. If we are given personal information from or about a child younger than 14 without parental consent, we are required to unpublish and eradicate that information immediately. If we are unaware that we hold information from or about a child younger than 14 without the consent of a parent or guardian, please contact us at contact@dearactivist.com to resolve the issue promptly.
As stated in our Code of Conduct and Terms and Conditions Agreement, Dear Activist does not tolerate the use of harmful words and plagiarism. We take these offenses seriously, and those who fail to comply with Dear Activist’s core values will be subject to consequences. The pieces published on dearactivist.com are original in content, and the environment of the journalist team will continue to be collaborative and supportive to the fullest extent.
Applying as a One-Time Journalist
To submit an original article for Dear Activist to publish, the One-Time Journalist Application form must be completed. Echoing the previous section, one-time journalists affiliated with Dear Activist must be 14 years of age or older to get their work published on our website. Those who wish to be affiliated with Dear Activist must have the support and approval of a parent or legal guardian.
Articles must remain unbiased and should include perspectives from both sides. The work we publish on Dear Activist is impartial and centered around human rights violations and international affairs. We will not consider controversial articles that pertain to one opinion.
Dear Activist Emails
By signing up for our emails through the Dear Activist website, we are given permission to send you our monthly newsletters. If you would like to be removed from our mailing list, please email contact@dearactivist.com, and we will follow through with your request.
Recorded Information
In our journalist team application and Code of Conduct, we record your first and last name, email address, city and country of residence, time zone, grade in school, age, region, parent or guardian information, and written responses to questions geared towards the applicant’s interests, time commitments, and qualifications to be affiliated with Dear Activist. We use your information solely for communication purposes and to evaluate your application.
Who Has Access to Your Information
Your information will be recorded by Nika Tarkian, the founder of Dear Activist, and other important members of the Dear Activist leadership team. Your information will also be submitted to Slack, our primary communication channel, to set up a profile. Registering on Slack is essential as group meetings, general announcements, and individual inquiries will be addressed on that platform. We also highly recommend that members of the journalist team sign up for a Google Drive account, since all articles and pitches must be tracked there. It is also important to note that we do not disclose your personal information to any outside parties without your permission to do so.
You are always given the option to change or update any aspect of your personal information by emailing contact@dearactivist.com; however, the new information must be veritable and may not go against anything lawful.
